Job Description
The QuadPara Association of South Africa (QASA) is looking for an experienced and passionate Fundraiser to join our team. This role is crucial in securing essential funding to fund the projects and services necessary to achieve the mission of QASA.
- The Fundraiser is responsible for securing sustainable funding for the QASA projects and services, as well as advocacy and prevention programs all of which are in line with and guided by the QASA strategic plan.
- Fundraising for unrestricted funding and operational costs is high on the agenda.
- The role will include proposal development, new donor sourcing, assisting the Management Board with a fundraising strategy and maintaining relationships with existing donors.
- This can be a part time or full time position.
- Location: QASA Headquarters is in Kloof, Durban but remote work is possible.
Roles and Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy & Implementation
- Develop a fundraising strategy with the input from QASA staff as well as QASA Management Board that aligns with QASA’s strategic goals.
- Identify and approach new international and domestic funding opportunities.
- Engage with donors and funders to secure unrestricted funding as well as specific project funding.
- Conduct research to identify potential funders, grant opportunities, and sponsorships
Proposal Development & Grant Management
- Develop high-quality funding proposals tailored to the specific needs of donors.
- Ensure proposals align with donor guidelines and organizational priorities.
- Maintain a database of funding proposals, donor applications, and funding cycles.
- Monitor and track the progress of grant applications and funding appeals.
- Work closely with the General Manager and Treasurer for proposal approval and submission.
- Monitor the National Lottery Commission announcements and apply when windows of opportunity exist.
Donor Engagement & Relationship Management
- Research donor structure and philosophy to ensure well informed initial engagement.
- Prepare proposals that are congruent with the potential donor’s social responsibility
- Present proposals in a manner that will enthuse the potential donor.
- Ensure that contractual agreements are acceptable to QASA. (with GM and QASA Executive.)
- Timeously keep to donor feedback schedule on deployment of donated funds; restricted as well as unrestricted funds.
- Respond formally to donor queries within 48 hours of receipt. Responses that require investigation must be replied to state with a timeline commitment for the formal response.
- Project funding must be closed with a comprehensive report on the project, for the records of the donor.
- Complete all reports to the donor
- Social and informal interaction with relevant donor employees in order to maintain good relations.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
- Submit monthly progress reports detailing fundraising efforts, donor engagements, and funds secured to the GM and QASA Exec.
- Track and evaluate fundraising performance against targets.
- Provide data-driven insights to improve fundraising strategies.
- Prepare quarterly fundraising plans aligned with donor cycles and organizational needs.
Financial Sustainability & Target Achievement
- Ensure that unrestricted funding raised totals at least more than double the annual remuneration of the fundraiser
- Support the General Manager in developing long-term funding strategies.
- Explore and implement innovative fundraising approaches, including online fundraising and donor appeals.
IT (Information Technology)
- QASA will provide an electronic device in the form of a laptop and necessary Wi-Fi/data
- All hardware provided by QASA will remain the property of QASA.
- All intellectual property developed whilst in the employ of QASA will remain the intellectual property of QASA.
Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum Requirment
- At least five years of experience in a similar fundraising or donor relations role.
- Proven experience working in the NPO sector
- A strong track record of securing funding and building relationships with donors.
- Excellent proposal writing, research, and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of funding cycles, grant management, and donor engagement.
- Experience in strategic planning, monitoring, and reporting.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and deliver measurable results.
The approved candidate will have to go through a credit check and police clearance as part of QASA governance.
