Students for A Better Future is a Scholarship Foundation offering Scholarships based on academic ability and financial need, to some of Cape Town’s most prestigious High Schools, the vision is to develop well-rounded, goal-oriented individuals who will contribute positively to the future of South Africa and become citizens of the world.

 About the Role:

SBF is looking for a High School Programme Coordinator to implement programmes and curriculum to support the personal and academic development of the scholars in the High School Programme. We are looking for a candidate to execute the Students for A Better Future strategy, and to deliver organisational goals and vision, which includes the following areas:

  • Project Management: To manage projects within the High School Programme.

- Plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate academic and personal development programmes

- Support and Implement Recruitment and Preparation processes

- Support and Implement Psychosocial processes

- Support and Facillitate the transition into the Post-Matric space, including applications, funding, internships and so on

- Parental support and facillitate skills development

- Support scholars in understanding future world, how to adapt, study and engage in this space.

  • Scholar Development:

- To provide mentoring, coaching and academic support within the High School Programme.

- Facilitate the transition and orientation of scholars to the High School Programme; as well as the Post-matric Phase.

- Career pathing/Career development – based on future world

  • Curriculum development:

- Develop SBF Programme curriculum to support the academic and personal development of the scholars and students.

- Execution and facilitation of SBF Programme curriculum

  • Organisational Support

- Contribute towards the operational planning and management of the organisation

- Operate within the budget and according to the established financial parameters and process in place

- Carry out reporting, monitoring and knowledge management activities as per the programme requirements

- Operate within and contribute towards the organisation’s ethics, compliance, and risk frameworks

- Contribute towards and carry out the strategic vision, leadership, and accountability of the organisiation

About the Candidate:

Ideal candidates for the role of High School Coordinator would be individuals who are:

  • Someone who understands the future world of work and is passionate about coaching young scholars to reach their dreams based on a changing world.
  • Someone who is an avid learner
  • Passionate about supporting and developing processes and procedures that can drive outcomes in the youth development and Scholarship sector.
  • Motivated to work in and with multiple systems, schools, families and so forth, to the benefit of our individual beneficiaries.
  • A team player, involved in and committed to the Students for a Better Future (SBF) mission, priorities, and team.
  • Alignment with SBF’s core values and our SBF Branches namely our commitment to family, integrity, celebrating the unique, nurturing well-being and cultivating grit; and
  • A flexible and agile individual who is able to support team members and programmes sometimes beyond the immediate job description.

Minimum Requirements:

  • AA/EE Candidate
  • Fluent in Xhosa & English
  • Relevant graduate qualification in Education / Counselling or Post graduate certificate in Education/Psychology or Coaching qualification.
  • 5 years overall experience, with at least 3 years in a relevant field.
  • Coaching experience will be an advantage.
  • Practical experience in implementing and managing projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working with stakeholders across sectors.
  • Work experience relevant to the future of work

Skill Requirements:

  • Well organised, and effective in delivering on set objectives within a project.
  • Coaching knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and deliver high quality work with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple and/or competing priorities.
  • Ability to work in and with multiple systems and contexts.
  • Ability to work online when required.
  • Ability to utilise the following IT systems: Outlook, Google suite, Office 365, Zoom, Microsoft Teams.
  • Knowledge of or experience of Salesforce will be an advantage.
  • Relevant experience within the South African Educational system / context will be an advantage.
  • Ability to communicate professionally, and manage relevant stakeholder relationships
  • Good writing skills, and professional communications.
