 Yabonga is a Cape Town-based non-government organisation supporting communities struggling with poverty / alcohol abuse and GBV in South Africa, Yabonga operates in seven townships around the city. Drawing on family, community and state structures, Yabonga offers a comprehensive model of care for vulnerable children and youth. In providing holistic support, we stimulate healthy emotional, social and academic development, and build capacity to lead productive lives.

Job Description

Yabonga seeks to appoint a Mentor Programme Manager to develop young adults, to be based in Khayelitsha, Cape Town.

Qualifications and Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (BSW)
  • Registered with SACSSP (or eligible for registration) Candidate to serve as a positive role model for the mentoring group
  • New graduate with a strong understanding of professional ethics and conduct
  • Valid driver’s licence (own vehicle will be an advantage)
  • Must be fluent in English and isiXhosa (spoken and written)
  • Must reside in Khayelitsha and have good knowledge of the local community
  • Be comfortable working in all Yabonga areas
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Passionate about youth development and committed to child protection values
